Ride Your Bicycle
The best way to explore your destination once you have gone as far as the train will go. A bike gives you freedom as well as health benefits and can be taken with you on many train routes. Many train lines allow you to bring your bike with you on the train car with you. For example, Amtrak has a limited number of low cost bike passes that allow you to bring your bike on the Cascades Route in the Northwest region checked as luggage and placed in the luggage car. Sometimes you can have your assembled bike checked in as luggage for a fee and you can pick it up at the baggage car upon arrival to your destination. Almost always, the option of transporting your boxed bike as baggage will be available. If you don’t want your train trip to include bringing your bike with you, you can also rent a bike at your destination or grab a bike-share which is available in most Metropolitan areas. E-Bikes are becoming readily available and will let you travel further with less effort. Below you will find trips that have involved using a bicycle as alternate transportation at the destination location.
