The Eurostar and First Class Trenitalia
Fred and Denise are friends of Travel by Train. They recently went on a 3 week trip through Italy. Before their Italian adventure, they did what my wife and I had done last fall, they rode the Eurostar from London to Paris. They confirmed what we had thought of the Eurostar line, that it was a first class operation. Fred’s remark about the Eurostar, “Spent a night in London and was fortunate to enjoy the Eurostar to Paris – Very Nice!!” Fred also added that the first class sections on the trains traveling through Italy were only a few dollars more using Trenitalia and were nice. This is what Fred had to say.”We started south from Naples and worked our way north to Milan. Trenitalia was our major train line, which runs through all of Italy; kinda like Amtrak. Their app is great. Many times, it allowed us to purchase tickets on the local connections too!”
A Tour of Italy by Train (as Told by Fred)
Our tour of Italy started in the southern end. From Naples we traveled north to Milan. Trenitalia, I believe, is the main rail company in Italy. Using their app, We purchased tickets to visit seven cities in just over three weeks. Their rail cars offer second and first class level seating. First class offers free snacks and water. They also offer ticket sales for some of the more local regional train lines. In addition to trains, our travels included trams and rail street cars. All of the Italian rail services I used made travel so much easier. My tour of Italy included the cities of Naples, Positano (Almalfi Coast), Rome, Florence, Monterosso (Cinque Terre), Venice and Veranda (Lake Como).
The Sites They Were Able to See
Fred and Denise were able to access so many historic and epic locations throughout Italy using only trains, trams and rail street cars. This style of travel allowed them to relax and enjoy the scenery as they traveled. One of the benefits of train travel is not having to rent a car and deal with the stress of driving in a foreign country. This comes with the added benefit of getting to take in the scenery while on the move instead of focusing on driving in an unfamiliar environment. Travel by Train would like to thank Fred and Denise for sharing their journey with us. Their story reminds us of our motto, “It’s about the journey, not just the destination.”

It was a vacation to remember, and we still don’t see it all. We’ll definitely go back… and we’ll tour the outlying areas, as they relate to the “villages” vs the cities.
Thank you Fred for your contribution. We enjoyed sharing your adventure.
